Wedding in a Castle

Nothing makes me happier than a person who is willing to help out another in a way they do not have to, a way many others would not be willing to and in a way that benefits the other person far more than it does themselves. Bobby Singleton was this person for me last Saturday.

Bobby photographed our wedding almost 4 years ago and when I told him I was thinking about starting a business he offered to help in any way he could, including offering to let me tag along with him to some of the weddings he is shooting this summer.

I had the oppurtunity to do this very thing last weekend and it could not have been a better experience. The day was perfect, the location was beautiful, the people were some of the nicest people I have ever met. It was all around fabulous! And to top it off I learned a ton and got to use my camera. Seriously, I couldn't have asked for more!!

Here are some photos from the day

Wow, isn't she gorgeous?!

This was a special moment that I was so excited to get a shot of. A really close friend of the bride flew in from California and made a surprise appearance right before the ceremony. Candi was so excited to see her.

All eyes on the bride coming across the bridge

I was seriously obsessed with Candi's veil!

My absolute favorite of the day

A & K all the way

Hahaha, that makes me laugh! Katie: you know what I am talking about.

Katie is the type of friend that you have a million inside jokes with ; ones like "hummel of husseys" and "tootsie roll" that you may not even remember what they mean but still make you laugh histarically. The type of friend that you may not speak with every day or even every month and you may go a year without seeing but when you do get together it feels like no time has past since you did spend every day together.

I just got the chance to spend a whole weekend with her and two other friends like this and I am grateful for that time.

Katie is a musician, a very talented one. Check out her website! I got the chance to take some photos of her on the beach with her guitar and am so excited with the images that we created. Here are some of my favorites...

Chasing birds

We woke up early to try and get some silhouette pics and look at the sunrise we got!!

And my very very favorite

One word: Anxious

It was about a year ago that I began looking into "nice" cameras to buy. I knew nothing of photography or cameras themselves, all I knew is that I wanted something to take nicer pics of our growing girl. Soon the seeking turned into research, the research into learning and the learning into an obsession. A few short months later my amazing husband, seeing the passion that was festering inside me probably even more than I did, surprised me and brought home a brand new digital slr.

I tried and failed and tried again probably more times than I would like to admit, but I was determined to teach myself how to use this new foreign object that I read so much about. Taking pictures of Kenedie, although will always be my favorite, quickly began to not be enough. After many many months of learning as much as I possibly can, annoying my family with constantly wanting to take pics of them, taking in as much inspiration as I can from some amazing photographers, and loyal friends and friends of friends to practice on: I decided that I wanted to turn my passion into a business.

I have spent the last several months working on the preparation and I am so close now I could burst with excitement!! That's it for now : )

A Mother's Love

"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path."
~ Agatha Christie

Before I even experienced this special kind of love I had this quote hanging in Kenedie's room. I had no idea how true this was and how powerful those words could feel once realized. What an amazing thing to experience and how joyful it is to witness someone you care for experiencing it also.

Cara is head over heels for her little boy, so much so that she wanted some photos of just them together. I hope these photos capture this special love so she can see with her own eyes what she feels so strongly.

Thank you for your patience Cara!
